Blood Tests & Diagnostic Investigations
Our nursing team carries out a range of investigations, including blood tests, ECGs, 24‑hour blood pressure monitoring and spirometry.
Blood tests must be requested by a GP or consultant.
If you believe you need a test, please book an appointment with your GP to discuss the appropriate options.
Therapeutic Phlebotomy for Haemochromatosis
(Doctor‑led service)
Therapeutic phlebotomy — also known as venesection — is a common treatment for haemochromatosis. It involves removing a measured amount of blood, similar to a standard blood donation. Each 500ml unit removed contains approximately 250mg of iron. As your body replaces the red blood cells, it uses stored iron, helping to reduce overall iron levels.
This service is free for patients with a valid medical card and is covered by many health insurance policies.
